John Cameron Fogerty is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist who was born on May 28, 1945.

He created the group Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) with Doug Clifford, Stu Cook, and his brother Tom Fogerty. He served as the group’s lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter. Between 1968 and 1972, CCR scored nine top-10 singles and eight gold albums. In 1993, CCR was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

His father was a Linotype operator for the Berkeley Gazette in California and was an Iowa native. Great Falls, Montana native and second-grade instructor Lucile Fogerty. In Berkeley, California, John first attended the School of the Madeleine, a catholic institution.

In his autobiography, Fortunate Son, Fogerty criticized the school, claiming that he was frequently forced to sit in his soaked clothes and was not allowed to use the restroom in the classroom even after asking.
