Stephen Ray Perry is an American singer and songwriter who was born on January 22, 1949. Between 1977 to 1987 and again between 1995 and 1998, when the rock band Journey saw their greatest commercial success, he served as their main singer.

He also co-authored or wrote a number of Journey’s well-known songs. Between the mid-1980s and mid-1990s, Perry enjoyed popularity as a solo artist. Between then and 2018, Perry made occasional appearances in music.

Steve sought to further his solo career after becoming well-known for providing the lead vocals for nine of the “Journey” albums’ top-charting singles. “Street Talk,” his first-ever solo music album, was published in 1984. The band did take a brief hiatus before coming back together in 1987, and success was certain to follow.

However, Perry’s mother unexpectedly became ill, making it incredibly difficult for the singer to handle everything. As a result, the band was impacted, and before coming back together for the final time in 1996, the vocalist was once again missing.
