Helen Folasade Adu CBE, stage name Sade Adu or simply Sade is a Nigerian-born British singer best known as the lead singer of her own band. She born on January 16, 1959, in Enugu, Nigeria.

As a highly regarded artist and most successful British female performers in history, she made a major impact on modern music. Hence, her work gained much recognition and she was awarded many honours including receiving the Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2002 for her achievements in the music industry, and also, promoted during the 2017 Birthday Honours, to a  Commander.

Prior to joining the band Pride in the early 1980s, she attended Saint Martin’s School of Art in London and achieved minor success as a fashion designer and part-time model. She started the band Sade after becoming well-known as a performer, and in 1983 she signed a recording deal with Epic Records.

Sade Adu is currently 63 and still very much alive. She is still in the music industry and has had a career span for over two decades.
