A vocal female group from the United States called Martha and the Vandellas was founded in Detroit in 1957 and was also known as Martha Reeves & The Vandellas from 1967 to 1972. With Motown, the trio became well-known in the 1960s.

Friends Annette Beard, Rosalind Ashford, and Gloria Williams formed the group, which ultimately recruited Martha Reeves, who rose to become the group’s main vocalist after Williams left in 1962. The trio finally recorded all of their tracks for Motown’s Gordy imprint after signing with them.

Martha and the Vandellas recorded in the doo-wop, R&B, pop, blues, rock and roll, and soul genres and had over twenty-six singles on the charts during their nine-year run on the charts from 1963 to 1972.
