Anita Denise Baker, an American singer-songwriter, was born on January 26, 1958. She is one of the most well-known singers of heartfelt ballads, and she is particularly well-known for her work during the 1980s calm storm heyday.

Beginning her career in the funk group Chapter 8 in the late 1970s, Baker issued The Songstress, her debut solo album, in 1983. She gained fame in 1986 after the publication of her second album, Rapture, which sold platinum and featured the Grammy-winning single “Sweet Love.” Baker has four Platinum albums, two Gold albums, and eight Grammy Awards as of 2017. Contralto Baker has an almost three-octave range.
