The devastating news of Angela Lansbury’s passing is heartbreaking. She was a widely known veteran Irish -British actress and musician known for her prowess in her over 8 decades of career.

One of the last actors from the Golden Age of Hollywood, Dame Angela Lansbury, who played Mrs. Potts in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and was a longstanding star of the classic TV show Murder, She Wrote, has died at the age of 96.

According to a statement issued by her surviving children, Angela Lansbury’s funeral and memorial services are underway, and in due time family representatives would release the date time, and burial grounds of their beloved to inform all well-wishers and sympathizers.

Early in her career, Lansbury had two Academy Award nominations for the films Gaslight (1944) and The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945); she also received a third nomination for The Manchurian Candidate (1962).

She rose to fame as a stage star, earning five Tony Awards (plus an Honorary Lifetime Achievement Tony Award earlier this year), but she is perhaps best known for her twelve-season stint as murder mystery author (and amateur detective) Jessica Fletcher on Murder, She Wrote, for which she received twelve Emmy nominations for Best Actress in a Drama Series (and somehow never winning).
