Darrell Mudra was an American football coach known as “Dr. Victory.”

Mudra was the head football coach at Adams State College (1959-1962), North Dakota State University (1963-1965), the University of Arizona (1967-1968), Western Illinois University (1969-1973), Florida State University (1974-1975), Eastern Illinois University (1978-1982), and the University of Northern Iowa (1983-1987).

Mudra also spent one season as the head coach of the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL) in 1966. In 2000, he was honored as a coach in the College Football Hall of Fame.

Mudra died from natural death per many sources.

Mudra coached at Eastern Illinois until 1982, then at the University of Northern Iowa from 1983 to 1987. In 1985 and 1987, the Northern Iowa Panthers won the Gateway Football Conference.   He guided the Panthers to the NCAA Division I-AA semifinals twice.

Mudra has a 200-81-4 career record in college football (.709). In 2000, he was honored as a coach in the College Football Hall of Fame.
