A Canadian actress who is of Jamaican descent, Yanna McIntosh was born in 1970 and is occasionally given the name Yanna MacIntosh.
McIntosh studied acting for theatrical plays at Harvard University’s Institute for Advanced Theater Training and the University of Toronto. She imparted her theatrical knowledge to students at Humber College and the National Theatre School of Canada.
She has appeared in a number of made-for-TV roles, including Dr. Currie and Condoleezza Rice in David Hare’s Stuff Happens. She voices Jenny the giraffe in another Canadian animated TV show called Willa’s Wild Life.
She has won two Dora Mavor Moore Awards for her performance in Belle and Athol Fugard’s Valley Song. Her performance in Doomstown won her a Gemini Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Dramatic Program or Mini-Series.
