Youssou N’Dour, well known by his stage name Youssou Madjiguène Ndour, was born in Senegal on October 1, 1959.
He is a singer, songwriter, musician, composer, sporadic actor, businessman, and politician. In Senegal and most of Africa in 2004, Rolling Stone magazine referred to him as “perhaps the most renowned singer alive.”

Youssou N’Dour joined Super Diamono at the age of 15, and the two of them went on a West African tour together in 1975.
N’Dour signed a contract in 1976, at the age of 16, to perform with Ibra Kasse’s Star Band at Kasse’s Miami club in Dakar, where he would go on to become famous.
