Lewis Allan Reed was an American musician, songwriter, and poet who lived from March 2, 1942, until October 27, 2013.
He had a solo career that lasted five decades in addition to being the Velvet Underground’s guitarist, singer, and primary songwriter. The Velvet Underground gained recognition as one of the most significant bands in the history of underground and alternative rock music, despite not being particularly successful commercially throughout its lifetime.
Throughout his lengthy career, Reed was known for his distinct deadpan voice, creative and provocative lyrics, and experimental guitar style.
Who is Lou Reed wife Bettye Reed?
Lou Reed’s first wife, Kronstad, and he were married in 1973 but separated the following year. Kronstad accused Reed of assaulting her at one of the many highs and lows of her marriage to Reed.
She claimed that while they did date for a few years before moving in together and being married, their relationship was not love at first sight. Instead, she said they became more at ease with one another.
She claims that throughout their marriage, Reed began to become famous and that fame in some ways altered him. In 2016, Kronstad claimed she had never read a novel that accurately captured Reed’s persona.
