João Gilberto, a Brazilian guitarist, singer, and composer who was a pioneer of the bossa nova musical style in the late 1950s, was born João Gilberto do Prado Pereira de Oliveira. He was born on 10 June 1931 – and died on 6 July 2019.

Rio de Janeiro is the place of birth of Heloisa Maria Buarque de Hollanda. She was the daughter of historian Sérgio Buarque de Holanda and Maria Amélia Cesário Alvim. She had two sisters who were also singers, Ana de Hollanda and Cristina Buarque, as well as a brother who is a musician named Chico Buarque.
She migrated with her family to So Paulo when she was 8 years old. She started a vocal group as a youngster with her brothers, which included Chico Buarque. She relocated to Paris in 1960 and enrolled at the École du Louvre to study art history.
