Which band had the most number 2 hits?
From “Proud Mary” through “Green River,” “Bad Moon Rising,” and “Traveling Band” in just a few short years, Creedence Clearwater Revival had one of the most astounding runs of singles in American pop history. They even reportedly outsold the Beatles in America in 1969. CCR never achieved the top spot on the Hot 100 despite their success with those John Fogerty-penned hits. They still maintain the record for the most No. 2s on the Billboard chart without a No. 1 because all of those tracks were No. 2.
A rock group from the United States called Creedence Clearwater Revival was founded in El Cerrito, California. The band’s original lineup included drummer Doug Clifford, bassist Stu Cook, and brothers Tom Fogerty and John Fogerty, who served as the group’s main singer, lead guitarist, and principal songwriter. Prior to joining Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1967, these musicians had performed together since 1959, first as the Blue Velvets and then as the Golliwogs.
