Helen Folasade Adu, aka Simply Sade or Sade is a Nigerian-born British musician who was a success story in the British music industry, winning many honours and awards.

Numerous vocalists and hip hop musicians have been influenced by and acknowledged Sade’s work. Rapper Rakim of Eric B. & Rakim claimed that he was inspired by Sade’s voice and style while growing up and listening to her music. In the song “Microphone Fiend,” Rakim also makes reference to Sade’s song “Smooth Operator”

The legend, who was born on January 15, 1959, over the years, became a positive influence in the industry and earned an award as the officer of order of the British Empire in 2002. Also, she became the Commander in the 20q7 British Birthday honours.

Sade also won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album for the album. Although “I’m Like a Bird” by Nelly Furtado took first place, the song has been ranked as the 48th greatest love of all time

Sae Adu as of now resides in London. However, she has lived in Nigeria before and was born in Enugu.
