American actor Robert John Burke was born on September 12, 1960. His work in the movies Thinner, RoboCop 3, and Tombstone is what made him most well-known (1996).

Burke became well-known in the 2000s as a result of his performances as Ed Tucker in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (2002–20), Bart Bass in Gossip Girl (2007–12), and Mickey Gavin in Rescue Me (2004–11), as well as a number of other roles in motion pictures and television, including Netflix Intrusion (2021).

Burke began his career as an actor in independent films by fellow Purchase graduate Hal Hartley, such as 1989’s The Unbelievable Truth, where he was a frequent cast member. Burke played with Laura Dern, whose performance in the 1991 movie Rambling Rose earned her an Academy Award nomination. He worked together with Hartley once more in 1992 on the Simple Men movie, which was nominated for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
