Lee Ji-eun, popularly known by her stage name IU, was born in South Korea on May 16, 1993. She is a singer-songwriter, record producer, and actor.

She began her career as a singer at the age of fifteen with her first extended play (EP), Lost and Found, after signing a trainee contract with LOEN Entertainment (now Kakao Entertainment) in 2007. (2008).

Her debut as a songwriter occurred in 2011 with the release of “Hold My Hand,” a song created for the television program The Greatest Love. With numerous tunes reaching the top 10 on the Gaon Digital Chart, IU’s third studio album, Modern Times (2013), demonstrated a more mature musical approach that signified a break from her prior girlish image.
