Héctor Juan Pérez Martínez, better known by his stage name Héctor Lavoe, was a Puerto Rican salsa singer who lived from 30 September 1946 until 29 June 1993.
Because he contributed to the rise in popularity of this musical style during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, Lavoe is regarded as arguably the finest and most significant vocalist and interpreter in the history of salsa music.
