Umm Kulthum was an Egyptian singer, songwriter, and film actress. She was given the honorific title “Kawkab el-charq”. 
Umm Kulthum was very much active from the 1920s to the 1970s and died on 3 February 1975  at the age of 76, from kidney failure.

Umm Kulthum was a very busy woman when she became popular. She became a huge public figure to her country folks, especially the women. Even with her busy life and all, she was married to Hassan el Sayed el Hefnawy.

Her husband was very supportive of her career considering how tight she was. The duo got married from 1954 to 1975.  There is not much information about her husband since he had kept a private life away from the media.

Umm Kulthum was born in the village of Tamay e-Zahayra, belonging to the city of Senbellawein, Dakahlia Governorate, in the Nile Delta. Her family was a religious one and with a religious background as her father Ibrahim El-Sayyid El-Beltagi, who was an imam from the Egyptian countryside, and her mother was Fatmah El-Maleegi, a housewife.
