She is regarded as one of the most successful and influential musicians in the genre. Together with Loretta Lynn, Wynette contributed to bringing a female viewpoint to the realm of country music, which helped other women find representation in the genre.

Mildred William Hollice Pugh was an ambitious musician who played the guitar and sang in a group, and Faye Russell was a schoolteacher. Tammy Wynette’s mother, William Hollice Pugh, passed suddenly when she was nine months old. A brain tumour that was untreatable was the cause of his death.

Tammy Wynette’s father taught her to play the piano at home before he passed away. After his passing, her mother relocated to Memphis, Tennessee, where she spent World War II working in a defence plant.

After Tammy Wynette’s father’s demise, her mother, Mildred Russell, married Wynette’s stepfather, Foy Lee in 1946. Tammy Wynette attended a high school in Tremont, Mississippi. Her mother was quite strict with her she continued to monitor her style of living.
