Ronnie James Dio was born Ronald James Padavona and change his name because, he was inspired to acquire the pseudonym from mobster Giovanni Ignazio Dioguardi, who went by the name of Johnny Dio. The immortal vocalist first as he has been classified put the “Dio” moniker, which means “God” in Italian, on the 1961 release of Ronnie Dio and the Prophets’ second album. The singer used his legendary name in Rainbow, Elf, Black Sabbath, Dio, and Heaven & Hell until his tragic death from stomach cancer in 2010.

Dan Padavona is the son Dio and his first wife Loretta Berardi adopted. Much is not revealed about Dan apart from him being noted as the adopted child of the singer.
Loretta Berardi was born in 1941 and she was 22 years old when she met the American singer Dio. She got married to Dio in 1963 and they were happy together. In 1972, the couple got divorced, and the reason for their divorce is best known to them alone to date.
