On March 8, 1892, born a star who was named John Hurt in Teoc, Mississippi. A guitarist who played the Delta Blues and was renowned for projecting a refined, friendly demeanor through his reflective music. Many musicians, such as Bob Dylan, Doc Watson, Beck, and Jerry Garcia, have covered his work.

According to a search, during a talent competition in Mississippi, Hurt recorded a song at the Vocalion Firm’s mobile recording studio; the company was so impressed by his singing that they flew him to New York. When Narmour won a recording contract with Okeh Records as a prize for being first in a violin competition in 1928, he suggested Hurt to Okeh producer Tommy Rockwell. He also participated in two recording sessions—one in Memphis, the other in New York City—after giving “Monday Morning Blues” a home tryout.
