On December 3, 1968, Pastor Barnett Jordan was born in the United States. He is a musician, singer, composer, and record producer. The primary male solo artist on the Def Soul label until his departure from Def Jam in 2003 was Jordan, best known for his 1995 single “This Is How We Do It.”

Elijah was born to his mother Deloris Jordan. She is married to Elijah Jordan with whom he had her children.

Jordan’s debut single, “This Is How We Do It,” reached No. 1 in 1995 and sampled Slick Rick’s earlier Def Jam smash “Children’s Story.”

According to conversations with Jordan, the song is a “reflection of what street life was for a teenager who grew up in the neighborhood.”

The song spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it reached its pinnacle. As a result of the single’s enormous popularity, Jordan’s debut album reached platinum status after selling more than a million copies.
