Richard Wayne Penniman, known professionally as Little Richard, was an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He was an influential figure in popular music and culture for seven decades.
Little Richard wife
Richard was once married to his lovely wife whom he met at an evangelical rally in October 1957 called Ernestine Harvin. The two began dating that year and wed on July 12, 1959, in California. According to Harvin, she and Richard initially enjoyed a happy marriage with “normal” sexual relations. When the marriage ended in divorce in 1964, Harvin said it was due to her husband’s celebrity status, which had made life difficult for her.
Richard said the marriage fell apart due to his being a neglectful husband and because of his sexuality. Both Robinson and Harvin denied Richard’s statements that he was gay, and Richard believed they did not know it because he was “such a pumper in those days”. Harvin later married Mcdonald Campbell in Santa Barbara, California, on March 23, 1975.
Little Richard children
Richard is the father of one child a son. When he was married to Harvin his ex-wife, they adopted one child when he was just a year old and the two named him Danny Jones. Richard and his son remained close, with Jones often acting as one of his bodyguards.
Little Richard parents
Richard was born to Charles “Bud” Penniman, a brick mason and a church deacon. Rumors had it that he sold moonshine on the side and owned a strip club too. His mother Leva Mae Pnninman was a prim and proper housewife.
Little Richard siblings
Richard has 11 siblings and was raised among his siblings. He was the third born of a rather large family.
