His breakout hit was the country rap song “Old Town Road,” which peaked at number one on the charts around the world in November of the same year and sold over ten million certified units across streaming and physical sales. He first gained notoriety with the release of the song, which went viral in early 2019.

On April 9, 1999, Montero Lamar Hill was born in Lithia Springs, Georgia, a tiny town southeast of Atlanta to his parents Shawnita Hathaway, and Robert Stafford.
He was given the Mitsubishi Montero as his name. living in Three years later, he relocated to Austell, Georgia, north of the city, where he lived with his gospel musician father.
