João Gilberto was a Brazilian guitarist, singer, and composer who was a pioneer of the musical genre of bossa nova in the late 1950s. Around the world, he was often called the “father of bossa nova”; in his native Brazil, he was referred to as “O Mito”.
João Gilberto was born on June 10, 1931, in Juazeiro, State of Bahia, Brazil, after battling with a long-term illness, João Gilberto died on July 6, 2019, in Rio de Janeiro, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

João Gilberto has no information  about his grand children, though he had three kids from three separate relationships.

João Gilberto had been married twice in his lifetime. He first married the singer Astrud Weinert, with whom he collaborated on the hit recording of “The Girl from Ipanema”; the couple had a son called João Marcelo. They divorced, and he later married the singer Miúcha who died in 2018; they had a daughter, Bebel Gilberto, who is also a singer. They later separated. Gilberto also had a daughter with Claudia Faissol, a journalist.

Isabel Buarque de Hollanda Gilberto de Oliveira (born May 12, 1966), known as Bebel Gilberto, is an American-born Brazilian popular singer often associated with bossa nova. She is the daughter of João Gilberto and singer Miúcha.
