Is Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah religious?
There is nothing spiritual about Cohen’s; it is wholly hedonistic. He tossed in a few biblical characters and the word “Hallelujah” to stir up a stir and attract attention. It is profane and not spiritual in the context of Judaism or Christianity.
Ten New Songs, released by Cohen in 2001 and a big smash in Canada and Europe, marked his comeback to the music industry. In 2004, he released his eleventh album, titled Dear Heather.
After learning that his manager had stolen the majority of his money and sold his publication rights in 2005, Cohen decided to resume travelling to make up for his losses.
In the years leading up to his passing, he embarked on a successful run of tours between 2008 and 2013, which culminated in the publication of three albums: Old Ideas (2012), Popular Problems (2014), and You Want It Darker (2016), the last of which came out three weeks before he passed away. Thanks for the Dance, his final studio album and fifteenth overall, was released in November 2019
