Hilaree Nelson, an American ski mountaineer who died on September 26, 2022, was the first woman to climb Everest and Lhotse in a single 24-hour effort on May 25, 2012.
Nelson and his partner Jim Morrison skied down the “Dream Line,” or the Lhotse Couloir, for the first time on September 30, 2018, from the top. Located in the same saddle as Mount Everest, Lhotse is the fourth-tallest mountain in the world.
In addition to being selected as one of National Geographic’s 2018 Adventurers of the Year, Nelson was recognized by Men’s Journal as one of “The 25 Most Adventurous Women of the Past 25 Years.”
