Actress Gabrielle Union is already thinking ahead when it comes to her daughter Kaavia James. The 51-year-old star recently shared that she has been archiving some of her clothing pieces for her 5-year-old daughter, whom she shares with husband Dwyane Wade.

In an interview with PEOPLE about her new ambassador role for Knix, Union revealed, “So I have a storage that’s just full of things that I’m like, oh, I want to be able to tell this story or how I felt wearing this.” She mentioned starting with putting her first Met ball outfit in a beautiful display case.

In addition to daughter Kaavia, Union is a stepmom to Wade’s three kids from a previous marriage and also has a nephew under her care. The actress has previously shared glimpses of her close relationship with Kaavia, including a side-by-side photo of them in the same outfit showcasing their resemblance.

To commemorate a throwback celebrity prom photo of herself from 1991, Union shared an Instagram Stories post of Kaavia recreating her senior ball look. Both mother and daughter donned similar formal dresses with matching accessories, with Union playfully acknowledging that her daughter “definitely wore it better.”

Union’s thoughtful gesture of preserving her fashion pieces for her daughter highlights the special bond they share and the importance of passing down memories through clothing.
