Duane Evans Jr has spent nine months living and working in the US after leaving Shortland Street while playing Rotxo in James Cameron’s Avatar 2, 3, and 4. (due out in 2022, 2024, and 2026, respectively). The director and crew praised him for his upbeat approach and “can do” attitude while teaching him new skills including working underwater, using a green screen, and doing stunts.

Duane has been giving stage performances ever since he was three. His depiction of Michael Hampton Rees in the drama series Shortland Street, where he was a fan favorite for four consecutive seasons, is what has made him most well-known in New Zealand.

In the critically praised films Fantail, Billy, and The Legend of Baron To’a, the actor had another significant performance. Among the accessible shows are Power Rangers: Ninja Steel, The New Legends of Monkey, Duckrockers, and the post-apocalyptic series Sweet Tooth.

For the part in the critically praised film, I’m Going to Mum’s, Duane was given the Best Male Actor Award at the Wairoa Film Festival. The 80th Golden Globe Awards, which will be given in 2023, have nominated Duane.
