Donny Edward Hathaway was an American soul singer, keyboardist, songwriter, and arranger who lived from October 1, 1945, to January 13, 1979. Rolling Stone called him a “soul legend.”
The Ghetto, This Christmas, Someday We’ll All Be Free, and Little Ghetto Boy are some of his best-known songs. Along with “Where Is the Love” and “The Closer I Get to You,” two of many songs he recorded with Roberta Flack, Hathaway is recognized for his interpretations of “A Song for You,” “For All We Know,” and “I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know.”
