Roderick David Stewart is the youngest of Robert Joseph Stewart’s five children (26 December 1904–1990) and Elsie Rebecca Gilbart’s five children, and he was born on January 10, 1945, at 507 Archway Road in Highgate, North London (14 December 1905–1996).
While Elsie was English and had grown up in Upper Holloway in North London, his father was Scottish and had been a master builder in Leith, Edinburgh. Married in 1928, the pair lived in Scotland where they had two sons and two daughters before relocating to Highgate.
Does Rod Stewart like Elton John?
Longtime rivals Elton John and Rod Stewart have found themselves in a heated argument after a string of scathing comments from both sides that threaten to split the septuagenarian rock icons in two. John is so preoccupied with the argument right now that he even included a new chapter to the paperback edition of his autobiography Me to discuss what started the singers’ argument.
According to The Sun, the singer alleges that the new chapter of their relationship dates back to 2018 when Stewart allegedly called John’s farewell tour “dishonest” and “stinks of ticket peddling” on Watch What Happens Live.
Stewart continued by saying that because it was not a very rock and roll gesture, he would never announce his retirement. Elton responded to this directly in his book, “I certainly didn’t feel like I needed a lecture on the feral spirit of rock and roll from someone who’d spent most of the last decade crooning his way through the Great American Songbook and ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.’”
John observes that the former Faces vocalist appeared on multiple talk shows despite taking a vocal sabbatical, and he adds “I had no idea what I’d done to upset him so much. Which was ironic, given the hours I’d put in over the years deliberately trying to annoy him.”
