English singer, songwriter, and musician Polly Jean Harvey MBE was born on October 9, 1969.  She is skilled with a variety of instruments but is most renowned for her vocals and guitar playing.

In 1988, Harvey joined the local band Automatic Dlamini as a saxophone, guitarist, and vocalist to launch her career.

In 1988, Harvey joined the local band Automatic Dlamini as a saxophone, guitarist, and vocalist to launch her career. John Parish, the lead singer of the band, ended up working with her frequently. She started her career as PJ Harvey after forming the eponymous trio PJ Harvey in 1991.

Before splitting up, the band recorded two studio albums, Dry (1992) and Rid of Me (1993). Harvey then carried on as a solo performer. Since 1995, she has put out nine more studio albums with help from a variety of musicians, including Parish, ex-bandmate Rob Ellis, Mick Harvey, and Eric Drew Feldman. She has also collaborated with record producer Flood quite a bit.
