Chris Cornell did have a family that had always supported him in his life and career. He was born to Edward F. Boyle, a pharmacist of Irish Catholic descent, and Karen Boyle (née Cornell), an accountant of Jewish background and self-proclaimed psychic.

After his parents’ divorce when he was a teenager, he and his siblings adopted their mother’s maiden name, Cornell, as their surname. Cornell had other siblings and was one of six children; he had two older brothers and three younger sisters.

According to several reports, Chris Cornell had struggled with depression for most of his life and was taking medications for his depression. Fans were shocked to hear he was found dead in his Detroit hotel room in the early hours of May 18, 2017, after performing at a Soundgarden concert an hour earlier at the Fox Theatre. His death was ruled a suicide by hanging.

One might find it hard to believe the musician would end his life this way. He had a daughter, Lillian Jean, with ex-wife Susan Silver, and a daughter and son, Toni and Chris, with wife Vicky Karayiannis. According to several sources, his wife Vicky Karayiannis was named the representative for the Cornell estate.
