In 2006, the same year she graduated from the BRIT School with an arts degree, Adele signed a record deal with XL Recordings.
The UK top-five tracks “Chasing Pavements” and “Make You Feel My Love” were included on her first album, 19, which she published in 2008. The album was certified 8 and triple platinum, respectively, in the US and the UK. In addition to winning the Brit Award for Rising Star, Adele also won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist.
Adele’s lead single, “Hello,” made history in the US by being the first song to sell over one million digital downloads in a week after going on sale. Released in 2021, her fourth studio album 30—which included the number-one song “Easy on Me”—became the year’s best-selling album globally, including in the US and UK. The year’s best British album went to 30 in the 2022 Brit Awards.
