Darlene Love siblings: Meet Edna Wright
American singer and actress Darlene Wright, better known by her stage name Darlene Love, was born on July 26, 1941. She recorded as a solo artist in addition to being the Blossoms’ lead singer.
She was a devoted member of her church and had grown up listening to gospel music as the daughter of a pastor.
In Hawthorne, California, Wright joined her neighborhood church choir when she was ten years old. Cora Martin-Moore, the choir’s director, noticed her during practice.
She was requested to go to the Music Mart after singing for Martin-Moore, where she sang and did some broadcasts. It was also the primary motivator for her to seek a career in music because it was her first musical encounter.
