Christina Aguilera’s parents: Meet Fausto Xavier Aguilera, Shelly Loraine Kearns
Christina Aguilera was born in Staten Island, New York City, to Shelly Loraine Kearns (née Fidler) and Fausto Xavier Aguilera. Her mother was a musician whereas her father was a United States Army soldier.
Her father was born in Ecuador, and her mother has German, Irish, Welsh, and Dutch ancestry. Christina Aguilera’s parent’s divorced when she was six years old, and she and her younger sister, Racheal including her mother had to move into their grandmother’s home in Rochester, a suburb in the Pittsburgh area.
Christina Aguilera said at the time of the divorce, she was physically and emotionally abusive and had used music as an escape.
Her mother later remarried Jim Kearns and had a son with him named Michael. After years of estrangement, Aguilera expressed interest in reconciling with her father in 2012
