Joe Strummer children: Meet Jazz Mellor, Lola Mellor
Jazz Domino Holly Mellor and Lola Maybellene Mellor, the two daughters of Clash leader Joe Strummer and his fiancée Gaby Salter, were born on November 18, 1983, and January 12, 1986, respectively.
The two sisters traveled frequently with their families to San Jose (Almeria) and Granada City during their upbringing in London and Somerset. In 2002, they attended Joe’s 50th birthday party at the renowned Bar de Jo in Los Escullos, Almeria, which was his last birthday celebration. Both of them are now grown ladies and moms who continue to uphold the legacy of their late fathers.
Jazz and Lola founded the nonprofit organization Strummerville in honour of their father one year after his passing in 2002. The Joe Strummer Foundation is a nonprofit organization that has been assisting young musicians and promoting new artists since 2014. Lola continues to be actively involved in the foundation as a trustee.
A one-time music festival called Strummer of Love was organized in a field in Somerset in 2012 to commemorate what would have been Strummer’s 60th birthday. The event honoured the rocker’s enduring passion for music and his commitment to it, as well as his yearly pilgrimage to Somerset with his daughters in June to take in Glastonbury festival.
