American singer, songwriter, and guitarist Cameron Fogerty was born on May 28, 1945. He created the group Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) with Doug Clifford, Stu Cook, and his brother Tom Fogerty.
He served as the group’s lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter. Between 1968 and 1972, CCR achieved nine top-10 singles, eight gold albums, and was elected into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.

Fogerty enrolled in the neighbouring Harding Grammar School after a year. He said in his book that his parents had a drinking problem and had separated while he was in the third or fourth grade.
Later, he attended St. Mary’s High School before transferring to El Cerrito High School, where he met the other future CCR members and studied guitar with Barry Olivier, the founder and producer of the Berkeley Folk Festival.
Tom Fogerty, Tom’s older brother, played the guitar and played with the group that would become CCR. In the vicinity of Winters, California, Putah Creek, the setting for the CCR song “Green River,” was where Fogerty spent his summer vacations.
