Erykah Badu was born Erica Abi Wright in Dallas, Texas in a supportive home. She has Kolleen Maria Gipson and William Wright Jr. as her parents. Though much is to known about them, they seem to be very supportive of their daughters career and are her biggest fans.
Her mother had raised her up together with her two siblings, Nayrok Wright and Eevin Wright all alone. Her father had separated from them when they were still young. The children’s maternal and paternal grandmothers often helped look after them.
There is very little information about Badu’s siblings, but her sister Nayrok Wright is a musician based in Texas.
