English singer, songwriter, and television personality John Michael “Ozzy” Osbourne was born on 3 December 1948.

Osbourne, who was born and bred in Birmingham, joined Black Sabbath as a founding member in 1967 and sang on each of their albums from their debut in 1970 through Never Say Die! in 1978. The band had a significant impact on the evolution of heavy metal music, especially with the publication of their three highly regarded albums: Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Master of Reality, and Paranoid.

Over 100 million albums have been sold by Osbourne overall, including those from his time with Black Sabbath and his solo efforts.  As a member of Black Sabbath and as a solo performer, he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame as well as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He has received stars on the Birmingham Walk of Stars and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He won the Global Icon Award at the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards. The British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors presented Osbourne with the Ivor Novello Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2015.
