On September 14, 1983, Mitch and his then-wife Janis had their daughter Amy when he was employed as a cab driver and window panel installer.

He also has a 1979-born son named Alex who is older.

A few months after Amy’s passing, in September 2011, he gave his first tearful interview on an American chat program.

In an interview with Anderson Cooper, he discussed how difficult it had been for him to accept Amy’s death. He said: “As I stood up to give the eulogy at her burial, a black butterfly flew in.

When Amy was nine years old, her parents divorced. Amy then lived with her mother Janis and spent weekends in Essex with her father and his girlfriend.

Janis, a former pharmacist, wed Richard Collinss in 2011 after divorcing Mitch.

Today, Janis still has multiple sclerosis.

When asked by ITV’s Lorraine Kelly how she felt when she learned that Amy had passed away, Janis replied: “It took time for me, disbelief.”
