Mavis Staples is an American actress, gospel and rhythm and blues singer, and civil rights activist.
She achieved prominence as a member of The Staple Singers, a band owned by her family. She participated in the group’s recording sessions for the smash songs “I’ll Take You There” and “Let’s Do It Again.”

In 2008, Rolling Stone named him one of the “100 Greatest Singers of All Time.” She also received the Kennedy Center Honor in 2016. She was a soloist when she was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame the following year. As a solo performer, she was given the first Rock Hall Honors Award by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.
