On December 3, 1968, Montell Du’Sean Barnett Jordan was born in the United States. He is a pastor, musician, singer, composer, and record producer.
Before leaving the label in 2003, Jordan was the primary male solo performer on Def Jam’s Def Soul imprint. He became famous in 1995 with the tune “This Is How We Do It.”
In 2010, Jordan left the music business to become the worship leader at Victory World Church in Norcross, Georgia.

Jordan’s first single, “This Is How We Do It,” reached No. 1 in 1995 and included a sample of Slick Rick’s earlier Def Jam hit, “Children’s Story.”
According to Jordan, the song “reflects what street life was like for a teenager who grew up in the neighborhood” in interviews.
On the Billboard Hot 100, the song debuted at No. 1 and remained there for seven weeks in a row. Jordan’s debut album, which sold more than a million copies, was certified platinum as a result of the single’s enormous success.
