In 2022, Efron opened up about his struggles with mental illnesses including insomnia, agoraphobia, and depression. He developed insomnia and depression after taking “too many diuretics for way too long” to prepare for his role in the 2017 movie Baywatch
Zac Efron’s siblings: Meet Dylan Efron
Efron grew up in Arroyo Grande, California together with his father, David Efron, who is an electrical engineer at Diablo Canyon Power Plant, and his mother, Starla Baskett, is an administrative assistant who also works at Diablo Canyon.
Efron is not the only child of his parents, he has a younger brother, Dylan, and a younger paternal half-sister, Olivia.
Dylan is a producer of Down to Earth, a Netflix show following Zac on his quest for a more sustainable lifestyle. The second season will be available later this year on Netflix.
