American screenwriter William Dodson Broyles Jr.
He has contributed to the movies Apollo 13, Cast Away, Entrapment, Planet of the Apes, Unfaithful, The Polar Express, and Jarhead in addition to the television show China Beach.
Saving Private Ryan’s screenplay also included assistance from Broyles.

William Broyles Jr. was born on October 8, 1944, in Houston, Texas, to Elizabeth and William Dodson Broyles. He was raised in Baytown, Texas.
Growing up, he attended and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. Afterward, he enrolled at Rice University. There he graduated with a B.A. degree in History in 1966.
After obtaining his undergraduate degree, he went on to study as a Marshall Scholar at Oxford University where he earned an M.A. degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics in 1968.
During his time there, he wrote political columns for the Oxford University magazine and contributed articles to The Economist magazine of London.
