Griffith Joyner who was also known as Flo-Jo, was born and raised in California and had always been athletic from a young age and began running at track meets as a child. She was a sight to watch on track and lived a great life until her untimely death in 1998.

Her death came as a shock to everyone, as she died in her sleep as the result of an epileptic seizure in 1998 at the age of 38. She is buried at the El Toro Memorial Park in Lake Forest.
