Canadian politician William Alexander Blaikie died on September 24, 2022 (June 19, 1951).
He represented Elmwood—Transcona and its predecessor ridings in the House of Commons of Canada from 1979 to 2008 as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Canadian New Democratic Party.
After leaving federal politics, he served as the minister of conservation and government house leader while serving as a member of the New Democratic Party of Manitoba in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 2009 to 2011, representing the Winnipeg division of Elmwood.

Blaikie graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and religious studies in 1973 and from Emmanuel College, Toronto School of Theology, with a Master of Divinity (1977).
