Robert Allen Iger is an American businessman, Iger joined the American Broadcasting Company in 1974. (ABC). His first job paid $150 per week for menial labor on television sets. Iger was the senior program executive for the Calgary Winter Olympics in 1988.

He previously served as the President of ABC Television between 1994 and 1995 and the President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Capital Cities/ABC, from 1995 until its acquisition by Disney in 1996.

The Walt Disney Company bought Capital Cities/ABC in 1995 and renamed it ABC, Inc., where Iger served as chairman until 1999.

On February 25, 1999, Disney appointed Iger as president of Walt Disney International, the business unit in charge of Disney’s international operations, as well as chairman of the ABC Group, effectively removing him from day-to-day authority at ABC. Disney referred to the change as a promotion for Iger.
