Late surfing prodigy Kalani David was born and raised in O‘ahu, a popular Island in Honolulu County, Hawaii, in the United States of America.
Interestingly, Kalani had two nationalities, because he was born to an American father and Costa Rican mother.
Kalani David’s parents are David David (father) and Maureen Rojas (mother), who raised him with care and attention alongside his only sibling Keoni.
As parents who cared for their determined child, Kalani was given the utmost support that every child deserved while growing up in Hawaii.
During his difficult period, where injuries nearly shattered his dreams, his father and mother were always by his side, seeing to it that he receives medical attention and care.
Speaking about the many scars which Kalani got from countless slams, his father told Surfer.com that “we’re always wrapping him in ice. And I’m constantly watching his body and making sure he’s got muscle on his bones for the slams. It’s pretty nerve-racking, actually.”
Even till his tragic passing, his parents were by his side.
According to Kalani’s friend and sports photographer Peter King, he was “having such a great time [in Costa Rica] with his family” before his sudden death.
His death was caused by a massive heart attack.
Announcing the news, King disclosed on his Instagram page: “Oh man. Love you Kalani. Only God knows His timing. Life isn’t easy. Always battling. Always Learning. Heartbreaking News. Kalani passed away in Costa Rica today, he had a massive seizure while surfing.”
“He had re-connected with family there and was having such a great time. I’ll always remember your stoke when we’d shoot skate n surf and how much hope you had for your future. God Bless the family and extended family that were always there for you.”
Kalani David was single at the time of his death.
