Jones started his college career at USC, where he redshirted his first year.  During his redshirt freshman season, he served as the Trojans’ primary kick returner and amassed 760 yards on 31 returns.

Jones caught 24 passes for 266 yards and one touchdown as a redshirt sophomore. He also returned 21 kickoffs for 483 yards and scored on the ground.  During his redshirt junior season, he returned 29 kickoffs for 704 yards and one touchdown, earning second-team All-Pac-12 Conference honours.

Jones declared his intention to leave USC after the season and ultimately decided to play for Tennessee.
