Matthew Thomas Ryan, nicknamed “Matty Ice”, is an American football quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Boston College, where he won the Manning and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Awards as a senior. Ryan was selected by the Atlanta Falcons third overall in the 2008 NFL Draft, where he spent his first 14 seasons in the NFL.
In his first game with the Colts in Week 1 against the Houston Texans, Ryan finished with 352 passing yards, a touchdown, and an interception as the game ended in a 20–20 tie. He surpassed 60,000 passing yards, becoming the second fastest to ever do so. In Week 6, against the Jacksonville Jagaurs, Ryan finished with 389 passing yards and three touchdowns in the 34–27 victory.
